RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION POLICY
ON PLANNING APPLICATIONS PURPOSE:
The
purpose of this policy is to set out the grounds on which the executive
committee of the Association
will make representations about planning applications on behalf of the
Association. POLICY
The
executive committee, or properly empowered subcommittee, will take the following
criteria into consideration when deciding whether or not to make representations
about planning applications on behalf of the Association: 1.
Would the proposed development be contrary to the Constitution of the
Association? This
applies particularly to objectives: 3.3
To preserve and sustain the character and environment of the 3.4
To protect the green field sites around the 2.
Would the proposed development involve a significant and adverse change in
character to the local environment? 3.
Would the proposed development involve a significant and adverse change in use
of the premises? 4.
Would the proposed development adversely affect the amenity of a number of
nearby properties? 5.
Would the proposed development represent a precedent for future change which
would adversely effect the character of the village? The
Association will not normally become involved in commenting on planning
applications for domestic property alterations unless some of the other criteria
apply. In
deciding on whether or not to make representations about a planning application,
the committee will take into account both the number of criteria which apply and
the degree to which each criterion applies. Representation will be made as a
matter of course if criterion 1 above applies. This
policy will be subject to review. Adopted
by the executive committee 1 st November 1999. Amended
