It is important that action is taken quickly so that the Holcombe signs can be erected together with others in the area or extra costs will be incurred. £1200.00 is needed of which £300 will come from the Town Council and £300 each from the Mayor, Mrs Ros Prowse, and from Humphrey. 6.a Congratulations expressed to the Village Hall committee on the successful opening of the new building. 5.Report
on recent and planned Association activities. 5.1 Possible village website. Andy Watson demonstrated the website he has designed. This is not only for the Association but provides a wider picture of the village and its activities, therefore it is just aimed at village residents in order to supplement the posters and other local means of publicizing societies and events etc. There are 5 pages plus the home page including one dedicated to the Residents Association with Holcombe Jottings, minutes of meetings, notice board, diary of events and contacts. There is a page listing all village clubs and societies and their contacts, a page for news and events, a page containing local photographs and a page for links to other sites such as dawlishweather.co.uk, the Teignbridge website, our local MP, the coastal footpath etc. The site will cost £24.00 per year and Andy will update it regularly. There was much praise and enthusiasm for the idea and the general agreement that it will be a great asset to the village. 5.2 Planning. a. 24 Windward Lane. Application to build 2 houses – withdrawn. b. Channel View. Application for a studio above the garage. c. Innisfree, Smugglers Lane. Application to demolish and replace house. d. Carol will run our usual stall and will welcome any nearly new goods or unwanted presents to sell. Please bring to Hall on the morning or collection can be arranged. 5.5 Safety on the main road. Andy reported that there have been 2 fatal accidents in the past month. The camera has been uncovered although this probably not relevant to either. The Devon and Cornwall Safety Dept survey on speed limits etc are completed at last and Andy and John W are to meet the Highways Engineer. 6.AOB a. Bunty Pike asked if a tree preservation order could be requested on the Monterey Pine in Leigh House. John Bromley has had a meeting with David Pratt, the Teignbridge arboriculturist and now has a map with all Trees marked. Before a TPO can be applied for there must be discussion about the condition of the tree etc and the application must be made by the owners of the land. Even if a TPO is granted the developer can apply to the planning committee who can override the order at their discretion. John Partridge said that even if a tree is felled the maximum fine is only £3000.00. b. The Association thank c. Holcombe Jottings are well underway and will be
delivered soon. d. Teignmouth and Shaldon Museum are busy raising money for their proposed annex. The next event is on Friday at Teignmouth Community College and is a presentation by Mike Aston of Timeteam, tickets £7 available from Carol Chambers. 7.
