1.The
Association is saddened at the untimely death of Anne, the wife of Len Tweedale,
A letter of condolence has been sent on our behalf. 2.It
has been a quiet year generally with a good Summer Fayre but a disappointing
Christmas Party. This was not well attended and as there was no positive
response from the meeting there will be no party this year leaving us to
concentrate on the Arts and Crafts Exhibition in May. 3.There
are now only 7 committee members. New members are desperately needed so please
consider it. The Chairman is standing down although remaining on the committee. 4.There
is difficulty getting speakers and if anyone has heard a good speaker or knows
of one please tell the secretary. The
secretary produced a printed report – attached to the previous year’s
minutes. He gave a summary of the year’s activities and meetings and expressed
thanks to Gerry Chambers who is largely responsible for the flourishing
membership figure of 320. The forthcoming Arts and Crafts Exhibition will take
place over 2 days in May. Posters and invitations will be issued and 33
exhibitors have already been listed. There
has been great concern over Roger
Tyler is an active member of the Dawlish Regeneration Commitee and has kept us
well informed. John
followed the Chairman’s lead in pressing members to consider serving on the
committee. He thanked the committee members giving particular mention to
Humphrey Clemens and John Clatworthy for their support. It is very sad to lose
Len Tweedale, his help has been invaluable and will be greatly missed. Joan
Felthouse is standing down as Chairman after a second term. She has been
tremendous and formidable, keeping us all in line and encouraging talk and
different views. Happily Joan has agreed to stay on the committee. The
Chairman was presented with a bottle of champagne with the hope that its vintage
was as exceptional as her good self. The
balance sheet was circulated in advance and Mr
Ken Locke has agreed to do this for another year. The
following members were nominated prior to the meeting and elected by written
ballot: Signed
